Formed in 2008 we have melodic metal act LOTRIFY coming all the way from Baden in Switzerland. December 2021 was the release of "Time Fracture" which is the follow up to their 2013 E.P "Light Passes, Shadow Remains". The band have supported the likes of EXODUS, TESTAMENT and GOJIRA. If you are a fan of the likes of AVENGED SEVENFOLD, DEVIL DRIVER and LAMB OF GOD then this is the band for you as there are some very promising things coming from them.
The album opens with "Left Behind" and the band wastes no time in diving right into it. Right from the start we got blast beats and heavy grooves everywhere. The vocals sound brutal as this is a total circle pit starter. As the song goes on the vocals start to show a bit of range while there are plenty of cool riffs all around. The band sounds on fire here and this is an opening track that pulls no punches. Next up we have "Bleed Alone" which starts with a real rockin riff that gets you moving. The verse here is a real head banger and then we get a big melodic chorus. Lots of really cool guitar riffs to be found and all the instruments lock in with each other really well. You can hear the bass rumbling through this one and it has a middle section that is a bit different but fits really well too. Really great song.
When the track "Bring It On" plays you can hear that there is a lot of groove to this one. The bass takes lead in the verses and there is a lot of style in the guitars too as the double bass off of the drums just pounds away. This is a real fist in the air type of song too and I could picture a circle pit going for it too. Lot's of speed and precision too as it leads us into the middle section which starts off clean and calm and shows great musicianship. The heavy comes back and with a guitar solo too which then builds to a finish. Some stylish drums start off "Clashing Bones" with some cool guitar work too. You hear a gun load then fire which sets the song off. There is a cool chorus with the vocals and lead guitar lines carrying it. The riffs hear are so good and there are plenty of heavy grooves too. The drumming really stands out as the middle section just pounds away to a close.
The track "Time" is clean and quiet with the guitars and bass too. All three are very melodic and the track acts as a sort of intermission that also sets us up for the final track. Last song here is "Fracture" which opens with an epic sounding lead guitar line. A thrash metal riff then comes in and hits you in the face for what is going to be the bands final assault. With the vocals leading the way and a big sounding chorus section the band really sound like they are at the top of their game here. There are plenty of cool sections here and lots of style and groove too with a guitar solo that rips through the track. There is a clean and calm middle section that then builds back up with this epic feel from the band which continues till the end.
From listening to "Time Fracture" the band LOTRIFY are full of surprises. At times it sounds like death meets groove metal then to hard rock and at times very melodic too, a lot of styles can be found here. Plenty of really cool riffs and a lot of range from the vocals. The bands drummer should take a bow as his work on this is really awesome through out. There is a lot going on in the songs but it stays interesting as they are really cool songs. It sounds like they would be great in a live setting and I honestly loved this album.
