Glory Or Death
Lost Legion

An English epic Metal band??? Well, that's something to be mentioned....as Great Britain abandoned traditional Heavy Metal for a long time now. LOST LEGION was formed back in 1998 but only until 2003 they finally got a steady lineup. Their first demo, 2006's Legends Of The Drenai, was received very well by the critics and now they are proud for their first full-length CD.
The thing that can be noticed from the start is how passionate the band sounds.Really hungry for Metal. Nice work at the choruses. Very important part for every band. Easily remembered and with a BLIND GUARDIAN touch. Glory Or Death is a piece of epic pure traditional Heavy Metal with some power elements full of headbanging riffs. Nice guitar work guys!! The vocals diverse from track to track. Sometimes harsh and brutal and sometimes dramatic. Tom Williams tried and up-to-a-point succeeded to make them quite theatrical but still he has work to do as in some parts he sounds a bit monotonous.
The band extended this epic theatrical approach adding some battle effects that really give credit to the songs. So if you like bands like STORMWARRIOR, DOOMSWORD and old MANOWAR (hail!), songs like Riders Of The Mark , This Day I Die, The Atrocity and Behold The Runesword are a must hear for all of you. I shouldn't forget to mention also the killer riff of Blademaster! Good artwork, but i prefer their older logo. The lyrics are drowning into the spirit of battle and heroism.
So, I imagine, after reading all of the above you must wonder ...only 6 out of 10?. Ladies and gentlemen...if this was a demo I would certainly put an 8 or something like that. But this is an album and the production should have been of an album. The production is of a demo and it's a part the band should work in the future. For example, the drums sound empty. With a better production this album would have been something different, but generally is a worth buying CD for all true swordbrothers...if you know what I mean!
...and always remember my son, the warrior's code...
