We are going straight to Tunisia, a North African country known certainly with its heritage rather than its Heavy Metal scene. Yet, some bands arrive to snatch their right to exist, despite the financial difficulties and the lack of a true framework for this kind of cultural industry. LOST INSEN is one of these acts that survives, comes with their first album "Here After", recently released independently in digital format.
Forget about the stereotypes of the kind: "It will be a Folk / Oriental Metal band, referring to the geographical location". In fact, LOST INSEN presents a Modern progressive Metal richly melodic and this is what you'll notice with the first song "The Greedy Idiot". An alternation between heavy riffs and a super melodic choruses that stick in mind after a few listens. The confirmation comes directly with "Dark Passenger" actually, guitarist Karim Bouazra does not hesitate to get out of his guitar the heavier phrases. The rest of the adventure takes me into a deeper and darker atmosphere, especially on "When You Were Here" with a musical research, technically pushed to the limits, which confirms also the originality and sensitivity of this album. The members of the band are finding pleasure in imagining improbable arrangements, and this is what gives the progressive aspect of all the tracks on the album. The keyboard playing of Fadhel Bouazra, reminds me of bands like DEEP PURPLE and reveals a big influences of Progressive / Psychedelic Rock. Do not hesitate to listen to "Breaking the Walls", a piece that will carry you as usual with a big chorus and an atmosphere in the manner of DREAM THEATER, a band that is cited as a major landmark in the music of LOST INSEN. Beautiful performances keep coming with more surprising songs than the others, "The Way It Has To Be" will go down into a quieter acoustic side and that highlights the singing of Oscar Zubelzu, a man who puts his beautiful voice on all songs each time with a different feeling. "Freedom, It's All About" the last track on the album is a summary of all this journey, with more than 12 minutes, all the instruments collaborates in a way to awaken all your senses, without forgetting to mention the presence of the violin that actually reinforce the melodic side.
Behind a mastered production that does not neglect any element, "Here After" seems to have all the advantages for a successful album. Mixing highlights all the instruments for a very good result. I do not really find negative points in this work, and i should mention again that this is their first album, an interesting one for you to discover.
