Lonely Kamel - Shit City album cover

Heavy blues is not a genre you'll hear daily. Adding to the mass some ZZ TOP style lines, and a lot of influence from Stoner Metal this is one of the greatest albums to be released in the fall of 2014. LONELY KAMEL made quite a very interesting album this year, naming it "Shit City". This guys are hailing from Oslo, Norway and they know exactly what they do.

The first song to open the album is "Shit City". The song gives you a feeling of a MOTORHEAD song from their golden age, the album "Ace Of Spades". The solos here are great. The music fantastic, written in a good manner, very dirty yet with a great sound quality.
"White Lines" have a more doom-like feel, maybe even psychedelic rock. The lyrics are amazing, the guitars are written very well and sound very authentic for the era this music represents. Its like you're listening to BLACK SABBATH alongside THE BLACK KEYS. "Is It Over" is yet another great entity in this album. The "Riding" guitar play, the drumming, and the vocals give it also a very big resemblance to the song "Dazed And Confused" by LED ZEPPELIN. However, "I Feel Sick" have a more Glam approach from the musical aspect. For some odd reason Thomas really reminds me the singing of Eddie Van Halen here. But what the heck, I like it. In the middle of the song you can hear the bassist slamming the bass like crazy. And the solo here is a mastershred. "Seal The Perimeter" gives you a more of a biker feel. The lines here are hard hitting, slamming music, and the vocals are clean and slow yet powerful and meaningful.

"Freezing", however, is quite a slow and quite song. But trust me, you'll fall in love when you'll hear it. "BFD" is a classic heavy blues song. Nothing to really add in here. "Falling Down" is the longest of all songs of that album. Maybe also the best for some opinions. Me, however, I'm both impressed yet not so amazed. Sometimes it feels for me it's too much in a song. It's just keep going and going and going. The last song on the album is called "Nightjar". I don't have anything to add but that the singer sounds a little bit like Ozzy Osbourne.

In overall, it's a great album for the evening with your girlfriend, or wife, for a ride with friends, or just to listen to it on your walk home.<
