Limb - Saboteurs of the Sun album cover

Hi, Heavy Rockers! This time I should say i'm more than happy to write about this album. Since 2015's "Terminal," LIMB was working hard on their new compositions and art. And this was worth the wait! From darkness in outer space to occult murder crimes, we have a lot of different themes to bite on and this is such an amazing album! Formed in 2011, they released a Demo in 2012, an EP "Gift of the Sun," and three full -ength albums in total.
Working with Russ Russel, they aimed high and succeeded.

The first track "Wych Hel" starts with some electronic sounds and space keys and offers a solid rock and interesting performance of singer Rob Hoey. He's got his own, easily recognizable, way to sing. The next one "Death from Absentia,"  is a slower one, mid paced strong rock song that is a cohesive addition to the first track. Nice one but not my best of the lot. "Survival Knife "  is very different approach. Hoey's singing is quite good and is reminiscent of Jaz Coleman (KILLING JOKE) or Al Jourgensen (MINISTRY). This track has some progressive rock sounding and time signatures. A very cool song.

"Rising Tides" is made to play live; extra cool riffs, and inviting vocal harmonies. There is some MOTORHEAD influence here. Pure Rock N' Roll. Let's beat those amps severely! "Astronaut" is one of my best. Space oriented theme, strong chorus, aerial guitar and synth, light and right to the point. Great ascension to a massive amount of pure energy delivered in symbiosis with spatial and deep dark and cold far away stars. "Love has no Name" has a particular vibe and very dark mood, especially the last two minutes of the song. Nice and effective. "Curse tablet" has a major Punk Rock influence in the riffing, the sing along chorus vocal harmonies but also breaks in some Stoner Doom passages and creepy singing at times. This one is original in it own way.I like it but i can't tell why. Weird stuff!

"Man on the outside" is "LIMB" we are used to. No more no less. "Truth be Damned" reminds me of SOCIAL DISTORTION and The RAMONES. It's a  song about htitng someone...heavily, last part of the song gets slower and deeper till the final clash. "100 years" is the epilogue of the album, chants sharing multiple voices and ending the cycle. It has a prophetic and Sci-Fi feel. Here we have a very good album. The pros for me are the writing skills, and the imagination behind this concept. Rob Hoey's singing adds a lot to the band. The cons: the album is non homogeneous which can be cool but here i feel like being thrown from there to there and back, and even if the songs are quite strong and good it left me wondering if this album should be cut in two different ones. Just a feeling, maybe after getting all the lyrics properly and listening to it a few more maybe this would disappear! I hope so!
