Lik - Misanthropic Breed album cover

When Swedish Death Metal appeared back in the end of the 80's, no one could think NIHILIST and CARNAGE sawn the seeds that DISMEMBER, UNLEASHED and ENTOMBED would make grown, and a model was born: the trademark Swedish Death Metal. This is what LIK is about with their third album, "Misanthropic Breed".

To be honest, it seems like a side project, because members from WITCHERY, KATATONIA and BLOODBATH are on the band's ranks. But besides it's in an Old School Swedish Death Metal vein, it's not a clone of what was done before. Due the experience of its musicians, many different influences gathered into the music, creating something fresh, new and with energy. But be prepared: it's brutal and rough enough to cause earaches. The sound quality of "Misanthropic Breed" is very good. Of course that it bears that crude natural feeling from Swedish Death Metal from the beginning of the 90's, but of course it bears the advantages of modern recordings as well (it means that it sounds defined and understandable).

On the songs, the fans will feel the same crude and massive energy that was releases in the early classics from the genre. "The Weird" (a massive and brutal a song, fast and filled with great guitars), "Decay" (that presents some fast blast beats, but the rhythm is solid and presents some changes, with a good work from bass guitars and drums), "Funeral Anthem" (where speed decreases, but the weight becomes bitter, and even some subjective melodies can be heard), "Female Fatal to the Flesh" (this one is another song with a bitter and oppressive ambience), "Flesh Frenzy" (that old and good simple technical approach is presented on this one), "Morbid Fascination" (another catchy and nasty song, with hard riffs and very good rhythmic work), and "Faces of Death" (the old and good Hardcore influences can be heard on the guitars, and another great work from vocals can be heard) are the album's finest moments.

LIK really made of "Misanthropic Breed" a fine release, so receive this massive dose of Old School Death Metal, and blow your ears off!
