Today, the main idea for the new generations that came after the 90's is that Black metal was born on Norway. It's a great mistake to think in such way, because the genre was named by VENOM, and its main features were set by BATHORY and SARCÓFAGO. On Norway, Sweden, Greece, UK, Finland and other countries, the genre was reformatted for new times on the 90's. But of course that MAYHEM, BURZUM and DARKTHRONE made great musical contributions to expand the genre's musical identity. And LIFVSLEDA, from Sweden, shows on "Manifest MMXIX" a call for the past days.

Their music has the same way of the 90's, sounding as bands from Sweden, Norway and Finland from those days: an organic raw sound with a simple instrumental technique used to give life to an aggressive and raw Black Metal musical work. To those who miss the days when MARDUK, MAYHEM, DARKTHRONE were producing their early albums, they have a lot of to offer, besides it's far of being something new. The sonority of "Manifest MMXIX" is what can be expected from a Grim Black Metal release: raw and putrid, besides the band had the clear idea that the listener must understand what is being played to create the synergy needed. It's crude and aggressive, but in a way that allows the fans to understand their musical ideas.

This EP brings three songs: "I" that has a touch of darkened melancholy on some of its nasty guitar riffs, as the fast and aggressive "II" shows as well (although some introspective morbid parts can be heard as well, and the vocals are doing a fine work with its personal tunes), and "III" (another fine piece, with darkened slow parts and very good work from bass guitar and drums). "IV" is a kind of climatic outro, filled with spectral voices and a funereal ambiance.

Of course, LIFVSLEDA can make some improvements on its music, but for now, "Manifest MMXIX" is the kind of release that can make Old School Black Metal fans happy, without a shadow of doubt.
