Al Intihar
Lelahell
I don't know why but for some reason the last Arabian bands that I reviewed are extreme Metal bands, and brutal ones I might add. Maybe it is their best way to express their feelings towards the harsh environment and to tell their own side of the story. Either way some are better and some are less. Very much similar to another band, Canadian based but Arab oriented, which I reviewed a little while ago named NEPHELIUM, I was introduced to the Death Metal project, LELAHELL, lead by the vocalist / guitarist Lelahel. Their independent EP, "Al Intihar" shed more light on yet another Middle Eastern extremity following aggression and force but with a further dip into the local culture.
The violent offence of "Emperor" slammed hard with brutal Death Metal riffing and once again the out squeal low grunts that spewed out lyrics that possibly only their composer and its peers understood. The singing pattern issue, which I also talked about in another review I wrote earlier on, still remains crucial to the entire release, yet in this band's case it wasn't all too excessive. I think that in many ways, the members of LELAHELL wanted to reach genuineness in the brutish side of Death Metal, and they made some fine turn ups. However, I don't think that this EP truly conveys the whole concept behind the band's music and themes. The so called instrumentals didn't contribute while a track like "Hermanos" seemed to me like filler with potential. There is much more to discover within the assaulting riffs than meets the eye or ear, particularly after listening to a track such as "Into The Past" or the band's version to the infamous "Freezing Moon" originally a hit of the MAYHEM fame.
