Lelahell - Al Insane... The (Re) Birth Of Abderrahmane album cover

Here is a surprise, a band that does more than basic, as my friend would put it, "CANNIBAL CORPSE riffs", where everything sounds like its ripping off CORPSE just to sound Death Metal enough, these guys sound way different. Readers, I'd like to introduce you to LELAHELL a Death Metal band with some clear Black Metal influences. Horror Pain Gore Death Productions have done it again, releasing a band with some surprises, not sounding like every other Death Metal band or trying to use riffs obviously stolen from CORPSE.

Your first experience will be "Al Intissar", having one of the catchiest sections you'll hear in Death Metal, with more of a Black Metal sounding style of vocals, you'll find yourself wanting to learn the words to sing along with it (and if you don't find yourself wanting to, do it anyways, it's a lot of fun). Outside of this, the song is a typical A, B, C, B, C style of song so outside of being insanely catchy, it's not bringing anything to new to the table, even though its good, no matter how you look at it. The following song, "Voices Revealed", contains one of the most interesting riffs you'll hear, the riff is a scaling style that starts off slow, then picks up after a small Black Metal "blah!" Other than the cool riffing, this song is also an all-together strong Death Metal song sounding much less Black Metal than the previous song. Straight Death Metal is never a bad thing though.  "Imzad" is a break in the album, and it's a cool little break. It's repetitive because it's only 40 seconds or so, but the drumming is a bit more tribal, although it sounds weird, it's a sweet little piece that won't take your attention away from the music, but give you enough of a break that you don't get sick of it. "Black Hands" is a straight, unrelenting thrasher, just constant madness. The riffs are insane though, and it's not so over the top that you don't even want to deal with it, it's just a ton of power very quickly and at all times in the song.

Madness is a good summary, blackening the Death Metal sound a little and causing madness. The album I can't say is too special, there is some very memorable parts of course and it's constantly powerful and not disappointing at all. Cool little thing to check out if you have down time between new albums you're after and need some Death Metal.<
