Legacy Of Emptiness - ST album cover

Bands go through changes, whether their names, personnel and even direction. It is the nature of the craft we all bare when dealing with musicians. It could be the best thing the band can do, or it could end up destroying what was a promising career. Norway's LEGACY OF EMPTINESS has done all of this, and more, springing from the ashes of ANCESTRAL LEGACY.Will this new incarnation be the way they wanted it all along?  We shall see.

Symphonic Black Metal is a subgenre that you either do amazing songs that soar into your soul and lead you into the netherworld, or crash and burn in a quagmire of uninspired drivel in seconds.  It is unforgiving and LOE gives it to you fully to your face. With hook laden music that is accented by pounding heavy riffs and Growling/Clean vocal, it comes clear that this band does this genre a great service.

LOE'smusic is as impressive as the heaviness and conviction they deliver it with. Songs like the heavy riffing attack of "Valley of Unrest" or the demon calling "Ringer of Death" shows the darkest sweeping of heavy riffs and the arrangements as if coming from the pits of the underworld. Nasty and brutal music, even by Black Metal standards, is a feature that most bands struggle with doing from the first time they try. This band never seemed to have struggled with it as it seems to effortlessly bring every note out with class and clarity.

LOE is a band that takes the subgenre of Symphonic Black Metal, and just improves it without making complete changes. I would take LOE over most of the bands out there as they didn't simply try to change the music, they just made it to the point that it would be way better. Summon the black masses and the High Priest, we have found the soundtrack of the darkened rituals.
