Lectern - Precept Of Delator album cover

Metal maniacs, rejoice! I'm proud to present to you: LECTERN; signed independently, hailing from Italian grounds - performing Death Metal, on their second album entitled: "Precept Of Delator". (released on September 23rd, 2016)

Since formation in 1999; the quintet have only one album behind them: "Fratricidal Concelebration" (released on January 8th, 2015). I'm acquainted with their second brute "Precept Of Delator". What we have here is quite simple - a nice, solid slab of the most extreme and yet most brutalicious Death Metal a fan of the sub-genre could ever want...and this is coming from someone who is listening to the 1st track "Gergal Profaner" right off the earphones. Intentionally showcasing their influences which are unmistakably CANNIBAL CORPSE in terms of vocalisation from Fabio Bava; it's quite clear LECTERN profusely use an unprecedented form of musicianship as well as equally forming elegant instrumentation - that has rhythm, distinction and progressives in which unify a fulfilling yet pummelling production. It is quite evident that the quartet are not for the faint of heart.

Consisting of Fabio Bava on vocals (we've already covered that part) and bass contributes incredibly well with the fierce riffery LECTERN delivers. Evident in the second song "Palpation Of Sacramentarian" which had me in a furious yet enlightening head-bang of extreme measures. The powerhouse of Marco Valentine on drums helps with that motion; similarly executed with the 3rd song "Fluent Bilocation", Pietro Sabato on guitars implements some incredible riffs of complex dexterity and efficiently showing no signs of slowing down and upholding a very groovy sound production that is memorable as it is original. Death Metal in its purist form is exquisite without any comprises to include other sub-genres; that may baffle some, however - the band in question sufficiently provide a succulent crusher that if "Precept Of Delator" doesn't motivate you to activate a mosh pit...then there is simply something wrong with you!

Featuring 9 Death Metal tracks ranging at around 31:00; LECTERN explore the fringes of extreme Metal submerging a hint of atmospheric Black, Death & Doom Metal (but mostly just Death Metal). "Distil Shambles", "Pellucid" & "Diptych Of Perked Oblation" have one thing in common - the intention to blow your mind with intense grunts and excruciatingly skull crushing instrumentation in which objectively values at some powerful old school Death Metal, in moderation with some improvisation at progressive modern-age intricacy. "Garn For Debitors", "Precept Of Delator" & "Discorporation With Feral" conclude the album with a flair of distinctive destruction, nothing particularly groundbreaking...though the record merits to distribute some fabulously written songwriting that the Death Metal community should relish and enjoy a whole bunch with repeated listens. Certainly one to check out for free via their Bandcamp website.
