LanzerRath - Metagalactic Domination album cover

From Bandcamp, "Metagalactic Domination" delves deeper into the cosmic corridors of our universe, to a realm shed of perception and earthly bonds. Travel through vicious displays of Black Metal bludgeoning combined with melodic otherworldly passages into the obscure." The album has six songs, and "A New Torment Begins" is the first. It's pretty chaotic out of the gates, with a deep and aggressive sound. The vocals vary from screams to near gutturals, and the production is a bit muted as well. They aren't winning any award for originality, although the music does have a good deal of energy.

"Supernova Remnants" is longer but with a similar sound. The drums and guitars hold the density of the album in their hands, while the vocals utter over top. The sound is harrowing, but there isn't much else going for them. "Shackled by Perdition" is an eleven-minute beast. Finally, we get some variation in the opening sequence. It crawls in with spoken word and held notes for effect. The vocals are very old-school however, as is the music. This kind of Black Metal has been done by forefathers many times over, unfortunately. The spoken words sections are harrowing, however.

"Sin and Innocence" begins with screams from a tortured victim. The vocals have an echo effect in them and it makes them more pronounced in a way. There is some variation in the music, but overall, it sounds stale. "Galactic Will of Oppression" begins with a slower and more deliberate groove. There are also some well done leads in the beginning, as the band shows a different side to their songwriting. I say, go with this, instead of the painted FWOMB style. But, the simple riffing returns once more.

"Ghosts of Ruin" closes the album. It's not much of an improvement on any of the other songs. Overall, and I hate to say this, but I feel like the album was doomed the moment it got off the ground. The opening description got me excited, but the FWOBM tinged music has just been done too many times before.
