Clean Hands

Following up from 2012's "Nowhere Plans", LADDER DEVILS are back with their first LP "Clean Hands", exploring even groovier heavy riffs and head banging movements. Emphasising the very origin of Punk, Hardcore music the four-piece have squeezed out every last drop of this classic sound with "Clean Hands", providing it to be a stable album. Signed to one of the best underground record labels, Brutal Panda it was sure to be a massive hit.
Starter track "Remember The Tooth" sweeps in, gently with Matt Leo's bold voice dominating the track before joined by a crashing of noises which compliment his tone deeply. Throaty shouts are a hold on with these tracks, as previous heard on earlier material, this record is covered with filthy melodic rattles that instantly catch your attention.
What really grabs your senses is Leo's bass, which is massively heard to cause ruptures of waves outstaying its boundary, perfectly matched for their energetic punk vibe. There are just so many different paths to take within this record as each track has it's own sent and along with that it's own mood. Highly phrasing the sound on "Clean Hands" to be polished at the right condition as it simply highlights the bands talent.
Dropping down a notch to "Scabby" a hard hitting song with less throat and more stretching vocals, this Hardcore impacted noise is plunged with a simple structure that flows willingly. Straying away ever so slightly, "Nameless, Faceless" tackles a softer tone found within Leo's voice that smooths the album down as we reach the latter end. The focus point is drawn towards his lips with the double plunge of the guitars accompanying his speech before joined by the gang in the chorus.
"LEARN TO FAKE IT EVERYDAY" are some of the opening lines to come from "Eye of the Mundane" which is planted second to last, but no means least as this song in particular is sensationally recognised to be a standalone. One that certainly stands out for me with its hooking lyrics and catchy beat plastered throughout, it follows up "Dumb Jokes" the last track on the LP.
A well established record from the four Philadelphians, as it is clear that they have progressed with great deal in sound which will surly satisfy your inner soul.
