Lacrimosa - Sehnsucht album cover

Ok. I know that our magazine is called METAL TEMPLE. We are supposed to write reviews, news, and anything else interesting from the Metal scene in general. The Gothic scene is a relative genre but sometimes the music is far from being called Gothic rock or Gothic Metal.
LACRIMOSA is one of the most well known Gothic bands (?).  I did add the question mark because the band is in fact only Tilo Wolff and his muse Anne Nurmi. Well, Sehnsucht is their tenth album, four years after their previous album. During those years, they were on tour and released their DVD Lichtgestalten and Tilo's side project SNAKESKIN. Even though they are based in Switzerland, Tilo is from Germany and Anne from Finland.  I also believe that most of you don't care about what was going on with the duet, but about their latest album.
Here we are dealing with pure Gothic, with some heavy guitars that must not make you think that this album is more Rock or Metal than their rest of LACRIMOSA latest albums, even though from what I've listened in the past some compositions are heavier that before. A dark, melancholic atmosphere is present throughout the album. The ones that followed the band during those eighteen years will notice that there is nothing innovative in this release. All the things that they love are here: the atmosphere, as mentioned earlier, the lyrics about love, loneliness, sadness, darkness and despair, the German language and -of course- Tilo's distinctive voice. There are songs that I liked in this album like Mandira Nabula and Die Sehnsucht In Mir, but overall I believe it is just a typical and good LACRIMOSA album.
As you probably understand, this album is NOT for the average Metal fan. Someone that likes the dark and melancholic atmosphere regardless the music genre will like this album. It's not an album that will be used as a coaster for my cup of coffee. LACRIMOSA is a band that I like and Sehnsucht is not a bad album.
Ps. The rate bellow is for those that like the band and its sound. Probably if you are only a Metal fan, you wouldn't even read this review. So don't be confused.
