"to shed tears" that's what LACIMAS PROFUNDERE means in Latin. I believe that there is no need to introduce his band, which was formed back around 1995. Back then they played Death / Doom rooted with a Gothic edge, yet late on years they began endorsing a more mainstream Gothic Metal. I got to know them after by mistake listening to MOONSPELL's "The Antidote". I have never been a big fan of Gothic Metal, however "The Antidote" changed my perception, so please be gentle with me it's my first time I'm reviewing a Gothic Metal band.
As I wrote earlier, LACIMAS PROFUNDERE aren't new to the scene but quite the veterans. However, they also had some, or should I say many lineup changes, the most important one came in April 2007, Christopher Schmid, the band's founding member and vocalist left the band. The lead vocals' role is very important in Gothic Metal in matter effect in any music band it's important. I didn't take long to find a new lead vocals, Peter Kafka become a new lead singer.
I've listened to the album again and again, it got me busy for more than six sessions, I rarely find myself entangled in a web of uncertainty regarding any Metal album. It seems to me that I liked it but I can't really compare it to anything of the same as I haven't listened to anything of a like. I would say that this is a great album, impressive production quality and I liked the use of keyboard along with guitar riffing. I can recommend the following songs that I liked more them others: "Head Held High", a song with a great atmosphere, "Antiadore", wonderful display of skill, catchy chorus and astounding riffing.
All in all I was baffled because I found this album to be very user friendly and very catchy. Maybe I'm not used to Gothic Metal, but I can only say that I'm going to brush up my skills on that genre. For newcomers, LACIMAS PROFUNDERE's "Antiadore" can serve as a wonderful start.
