Lacrima - A Story From Limbo album cover

The Polish doom-metal outfit LACRIMA is a very interesting mix of melodies and heavy, dark gloomy riffs. The topics of LACRIMA's latest offering "A Story From Limbo" are exactly what one would expect on a "doom-metal" record. Topics on this record include the miserable demise of humanity and the suffering that happens in our world. Generally miserable stuff, but somehow when LACRIMA play the music, it makes the topic almost tantalizing. It dares the listener to keep on listening to see what comes next. There are a few "brighter" spots on the record where humanity sees some hope, but overall the general feeling is dark, and "doomy" as the genre would suggest.

Tracks like "Trivial Wishes", "I Shouldn't", and "The Time of a Knight's Return" are dark, heavy songs that talk about all the things that humanity does that it shouldn't do. We know things are not right, but we do them anyways. Humanity has dreams, but thanks to the way we act, most of those dreams will never come true. It's dark, sad, depressing, and upsetting as life often can be. There are, however, brights spots on the album such as "The Light" where LACRIMA discuss that sometimes there are things that go right, and small things to work out in the favor of humanity. This is, however, believed to be more luck than it is due to something humans did "right". There are also musical pieces such as "Epilog" that fill in dark, heavy music mixed with melancholy feelings that paint the human's demise as something of a miserable fate as the rest of the album does.

Overall, it's a very interesting mix of melancholy, sad music sounding like something possibly played by an orchestrated musical group, mixed with dark, heavy drum and guitar parts that add a heaviness to the album that make the "doom" and "gloom" of the metal more evident. Coupled with dark, deep groveling vocals, the doom-metal sound is evident, and the topics of LACRIMA  match the genre as well.
