Spiral Shadow

KYLESA is an insane band; such bands should be banned. They have an original sound and play whatever they like without any care if you and me and you back there likes them. And honestly this is the way it should be as artists, always looking forward to do what they please and always upping the ante in what they play, according to what is the best for them and not the best for the advertising scene.
Fifth album for KYLESA and things are more complicated than they were in their last album. KYLESA are one of these restless bands that seem to never be satisfied with their work and always are looking to become even better and in the end manage to do that with an amazing work that they release. "Spiral Shadow" is intense and dirty, punkish and psychedelic in a dark and psychotic way, that lives a mark in your mind.
If I would describe the album to someone that has never listened to KYLESA but wanted to I would say: take some KYUSS, add more distortion but keep their psychedelic side, add some MONSTER MAGNET and finish it off with a topping of the grittiness of BLACK SABBATH, all this with the sometimes 'Southern' female vocals that transform instantly to a banshees scream and the unstoppable drumming of the two drums that could shatter the walls of Jericho with little ado.
Of course as I wrote above KYLESA has a personal style that the band challenges with every release, and with every release they become even better, exploring even deeper their personal soundscape. There is not a moment that as a listener you are not kept on the edge. Sounds change in a instance to become more aggressive and take you apart logical chaos that intensifies with the passing of each song and minimalistic lyrics that seem like the chanting of a spell, but there is order in chaos and there is not a single moment were one might feel lost, yet swirling within the spiral.
One should be careful with bands like KYLESA. They are insane perfectionists that do not follow the simple flow of what today has to offer, without melodrama just insanely good music in a take-it-or-leave-it kind of way.
