Here we are dealing with the first effort for KORRIGAN. It's nice to see bands trying to do something, professionally or just for fun, but either way you have to give 110% of it since there are literally thousands of bands out there doing the same thing.

This band - from some university students in Patras, Greece - came to life in 2005 under the name INSANITY. During those four years, the band changed its name to KORRIGAN, a much better name in my opinion, and had some lineup changes. Their last change was after the recordings of this demo, when Panos and Nikos P. had to leave the band and Vasilis (guitar) and Andreas (drums) replaced them.

These six guys and Zoe are moving the 'atmospheric' Metal field. Here you will find influences from bands like THEATER OF TRAGEDY, ANATHEMA and, as the growl vocals and some riffs concern, ROTTING CHRIST. Let's start with the good moments. Some of their ideas are quite nice and I really liked Zoe's voice. I really liked the growl vocals of Vaggelis even though they are too similar to the ones of Sakis from ROTTING CHRIST. Even the accent is the same. But the problem is that these are the only good thing about this CD. Even though I like this scene, I can't say that KORRIGAN impressed me. Most of the ideas are cliche and heard billions of times in the past. The clean male vocals need a lot of work, in my humble opinion, since they are below average. Finally, the production could have been much better. As I wrote in my prologue, today there are thousands of bands trying to do something. So, KORRIGAN needs to try hard in order to make something good and be heard in this scene.
