KNIGHT is a two-piece Indian band and they released their debut EP "High On Voodoo" in late December 2017 on Slaytanic Records. The band plays Old School Traditional Heavy Metal and it's easy on the ears with just 4 songs in here.The album starts with a very heavy one min instrumental intro in "Invocation", which is just average to be honest. But "The Ventriloquist" has some cool fast-paced riffs and some raspy NWBHM style vocals. The solos are unique and are very intriguing along with the drums and the vocals. The sound in general is reminiscent of 80's Traditional Heavy Metal bands like W.A.S.P and RATT, but with modern production in there. "Master Of Dreams" starts with a slow tempo before turning into a fast train wreck, but doesn't turn into an anthem, unlike what I expected or rather was hoping for. But the song has some cool lyrics, but felt like it lacked backing vocals, even the solos were not very catchy or inspiring. The EP ends with the longest song in

"Break The Chains" which has an interesting sound. There are some unique unexpected song writing there, and there are shades of Power Metal felt here, thanks to the clean screaming vocal style. But the song is not strong or unique enough to really be catchy or anthemic, but it has some cool guitar work going on in there, but I can totally see this song becoming the crowd favourite during their live shows. Throughout the album, the drums do sound programmed as is probably the case. "High On Voodoo" is a good start as a debut record and I don't want to be too harsh, but the fact is there is very little unique or strong about this record, even though there are many positive things to talk about. With a kickass album artwork and (Swedish band) WOLF-esque sound, this debut record is catchy and fun, but sadly not powerful and unique enough to really blow my mind. All said and done, pick this up if you are a die hard 80s NWBHM.
