Kivimetsän Druidi - Betrayal

It was 18 months ago when I was talking about the similarity of fashion and mini skirts and Metal. Well I still have the same way of thinking and this won't change. The record companies are still trying to make profit out of everything they think it sells and there is nothing wrong with that. After all there are companies. But the buyers can change that.

So the second album of KIVIMETSÄN DRUIDI is in my hands as their debut album. I don't think that writing their short story is going to change anything. The only things I will write down is that in "

Betrayal, Justice, Revenge" the two Koskinen brothers, Joni and Antti, are mostly responsible for the music of the album, with the rest of the band contributing some ideas for the first time and Leeni-Maria wrote most of the lyrics.

So here you will not find anything differences from their debut album as far as the structure of the music concerns. Yes, the band sounds more mature, the production is better and there are more good ideas than the first album had. But that doesn't mean that this album is far better that the previous one. While listening to "Betrayal, Justice, Revenge", I enjoyed some tracks like "Of Betrayal" (the more beath Metal approach was the thing that caught my attention) and "Tuoppein'nostelulaulu", but overall the album is still a mediocre symphonic - folk Metal one. The more extreme outbursts are the ones that make this album more interesting from its predecessor and I may listen to it a couple of times in the future.

"Betrayal, Justice, Revenge" is a better album than "Shadowheart". But still

KIVIMETSÄN DRUIDI

has a long road ahead if they want to be something more than a mediocre band. They are probably in the right direction, but they have to make longer, faster and bravely steps in the future.

Ps. In my humble opinion, the cover is a bit funny.
