Kingdom of Giants - Ground Culture album cover

Right from the beginning, KINGDOM OF GIANTS have progressed a fair bit within these three years of being a band. The California Metalcore-heads have upped them self with the recent release of "Ground Culture".

With their first EP in 2011, "Abominable" opened up the whole "generic metal core band route", however with such progression and time, the band have managed to escape this path that most newcomers take with ease and venture out towards the more solid sounding music. As I'm sure, with high pitched screams isn't something you want to be doing all the time with Kellin Quinn already suited up for that job.

The build up to "Lion's Mouth" Is subtle until it hits you right in your face, packed with heavy waves of guitar riffs and ranting vocals. Although this track does conform to everything Metalcore, it works with the band, as you may not be able to recognise their sent imminently, they do produce a clean shaven record.

Of course it's not a Metalcore album with all the generic themes and lyrically reinforcements, KINGDOM OF GIANTS have implanted this, not straying from their roots, trying to be anything quite so different. With this album trying to not touch so much on clean vocals, where there are traces of this, the band have twisted the tone, making it bearable and flowing.

Afraid of falling into the doomed trap, KINGDOM OF GIANTS have despite all routes leading them away "Virtue" is another expected track found sandwiched within the album. Saying this there are some stand out songs such are blasted with non stop beats and thrashing riffs, "Ground Culture" is jam packed with mind boggling twists that uplifts their heavy vibe.

Ending the album with "Afterglow" featuring Rory Rodriguez from DAYSEEKER, a step back is taken, with it's cleaner tone the track wraps up the album in calmness, still producing and energetic atmosphere, this finishing touch just neatens up their sound.
