Are you a Thrash Metal fan? Or a Black/Death Metal one? Or a NWOBHM follower? Or just a Metal fan? Do you like listening to something outside the Metal/Rock genre? If your answer is yes for the first four questions and no for the last one, then stop reading this review at once.
To tell you the truth, I don't have to write anything for this new band, since their bio doesn't really say anything. Not even when this band/project begun! Even their lineup is mixed up! I saw three(!!!) different lineups: One on the Press Release that came with the CD, one inside the CD and one in their official site! So, I decided to put the one I saw on the CD booklet. The only two names that are the same are, probably, the two fellows that started KINETIK CONTROL, Dexter, member of HAVOC UNIT, SINECAY and Tweak.
When I first pushed the play button and listened to the guitar riff at the start I thought that I'd deal with a descent modern Metal (don't you hate this label? Well I do!). And to tell you the truth the first track is quite nice for someone that is into that stuff, not me though. But from the second track and on, things got out of hand. Even though I am one of those guys that try to have my ears open to everything interesting without examining if this is Metal, Pop, Rock, Reggae or something from the 80's(!), to tell you the truth I didn't find anything in Lack Of Divine Inspiration. And probably in this album those guys had a lack of inspiration indeed. The basis of this album is the 80's dark wave scene. I gave this album a lot of chances, by listening to it again and again. But it kept reminding me of other artists such as DEPECHE MODE, FAT BOY SLIM(!!!) and things you would listen to if you go to a mainstream club, with some guitars here and there. I don't know if he does it on purpose, but Tweaks' voice is like a copy of David Gahan.
I tried hard to convince myself to like this album, but even though I like the music of SINECAY, I believe that this re-release, as the Press Release said, has no meaning of existence. If you want to listen to Pop/Rock/Electronic music, there are plenty of other, older bands that play better. Oh, by the way, by having some guitars riffs it doesn't make your music 'Metal'.
P.S.: Why a Haddaway cover? Why...
