Khoraja
Metal maniacs, rejoice! I am proud to present to you: KHORAJA; unsigned/independent, hailing from Greek grounds - performing Black Metal, on their debut album entitled: "Sailing Our Ships Of Martyrdom" (released August 16th, 2019).
Since formation in 2016; the trio in question have a 2017 EP entitled: "Echoes Of Thunder, Beneath The Waves", and this here 2018 debut album entitled: "Sailing Our Ships Of Martyrdom" - of which I am introduced to. 8 tracks ranging at around 35:41; KHORAJA arrange an intricately designed formula of heavy-hitting Black Metal developments. "Submerged into the Firmament" begins the record; conveying a short yet majestic opening. Until "Nocturnal Uprising" conveys amplified adrenaline; boistrously bouncy gnarliness, flamboyantly concrete haste & hostile extremity. Converging a blasphemous atmosphere, ambient crunchiness & a melancholic ritual of solid tones that demonstrate blackened darkness - fuelled into a blistering barrage of frenzied contrasts of bleak but harsh harmonies, and distinguished euphonics.
Consisting of DM on vocals; the frontman distributes high-pitched snarls, raspy pipes & lungs of meticulous screams that yell with profusely robust rage. "Blood Veil" conjures a distinctive interlude as Thomas Goud on guitars execute a borderline foundation of groovy deadliness; embellishing on experimental grit, complexly dextrous dynamics & rapidly swift nimbleness of quintessential momentum. Implementing an embodiment of keyboardist melodies, with symphonic terror & rawly rough pursuits of thunderously potent vibrancy. "Colours Of The Dawn" showcases primitively punchline virtuosity; opening up with a mellifluous interlude, immersed with versatile speed & uniquely vehement remedies that pulsate with thumping bass audibility from Leonidas...chugging and galloping into a chaotic maelstrom of stomping drum hammering which supplies rambunctiously visceral rhythms that transistions with soothing ramifications.
"Homa" grinds into an combustible blastbeating fabrication; blending almost catchy characteristics, attributing fluidly captivating detail with ruthless pandemonium & quirky snappiness. Striking with precision, while manifesting melancholic substance & organic variety. "Lydia" is a frantic belter; frolicking like a galloping flair of fierce firepower, elementing expertise & finesse that portrays sonically seamless yet riveting stability...until ending into a climatic conclusion that slows down into a grizzly grandure of doom-laden hooks, and conceptually gripping songwriting memorability which crafts an elegantly exquisite yet savagely sinister sound production proficiency. "Apnoea" injects infectiously intense fundamentals of venomous spits; prestigious musicianship, salubrious yet razor-sharp instrumentation & a breakneck calamity - converged with hardened instrumentation cuminated with progressively technical weight.
Overall concluding "Sailing Our Ships To Martyrdom" with the titular track itself; I am compelled to say that KHORAJA certainly outdone themselves here, for a debut - bottom line, the Greek Black Metal maniacs would want to check it out. Full of potential, talent and monstrously meaty mayhem...refreshingly splendid material that most definitely deserves credit...worth the discovery.
