Visions of a Plague Ridden Sky
KHNVM
It's typical of Eastern Asian countries Death Metal acts to look for something into Brutal Death Metal. But every rule has its exceptions, that band that is really dissonant of others of the same genre. Bands that deserve to be heard out loud and that can unleash a brutal musical work that really can turn your ears to pieces, but always with a high level of quality. And KHNVM is here to be a living proof of these words, as can be heard on "Visions of a Plague Ridden Sky", their latest full-length.
The band works on a form of Death Metal that has deep and strong roots on the format of the 90s, on what acts as ENTOMBED, DISMEMBER, BOLT THROWER, DEATH, MORBID ANGEL and others created on their early releases. But on the other hand, they don't open their hands of some different influences (pay attention to the Middle East elements heard on the instrumental "Hourglass of Decadence Pt. 1"), and have a very good set of rhythmic changes (pay attention to what they unleash on "From the Depths of Duat" to have a clear idea of this aspect), and even don't deny to have an actual insight of the genre. It's brutal, full of energy, done with care on the arrangements and on the instrumental technique, and sounds fresh. It's a very good release, indeed.
The drums parts were recorded at Usama Siddiq Studio, while the guitars, bass and vocals parts were recorded at Studio Obliterator (both studios at Berlin, Germany), and the songs were mixed, mastered re-amped at Tastemaker Studio (USA). All to create a form of sonority that could bring the distortion, brutality and aggressiveness of the past with a new and different insight. All sounds brutal and nasty as the fans like, but in a way that can be understood.
All the songs are fine pieces of Death Metal that can seduce the die-hard fans of the genre, but the band's astonishing moments on "Visions of a Plague Ridden Sky" are "Awakening the Inner Alchemy Pt. 1" (a brutal song with a very good set of rhythmic changes and instrumental arrangements, all to create a perfect brutal sheath for the nasty grunts and snarls of the vocals), "Visions of a Plague Ridden Sky" (another song rich in very good brutal arrangements, with excellent bass guitar and drums parts on the rhythmic changes), "Grand Evisceration" (a manic and aggressive song based on charming guitar riffs and arrangements), and "Awakening the Inner Alchemy Pt. 2".
If you're a Death Metal fan, or even a fan of extreme tendencies in Metal, give a chance to KHNVM. Or better saying, give a chance to yourself and listen to "Visions of a Plague Ridden Sky".
