Risen
Khaos

One of the things that I like in music is when artists from different countries collaborate and come together to make great music and I have listened to a lot of bands and artists that have been able to pull this off and create amazing music. Today, I will be reviewing an album that is released today that is, just that with two different countries coming together to make one album.
The band is called KHAOS and the album in question is their debut album "Risen" which comes out today (October 20th) and already it's getting off to a good start as when I saw the name Chandler Mogel in the band's line-up, I immediately thought back to when I reviewed the CHROME PUBLIC EP which just so happens to feature Chandler as the singer and I did like that when I heard it so already things are looking good.
KHAOS formed in June of 2012 and their debut EP "Rising" was released 4 months later in October the same year. The band is made up of American and Swiss musicians and work soon began to get their debut album recorded and readied for a release and now it is out and ready to be heard. The album in question is called "Risen" which was released on Melodic Revolution Records and made entirely through sending files back and forth over the internet as a test to see if it would work but did it? That's what I am here to find out.
As mentioned earlier, I am familiar with this band's singer as I previously heard his work with the band CHROME PUBLIC prior to reviewing this promo and as mentioned I did like his voice on that. This may be a different band with a different sound but fortunately Chandler Mogel's voice seems to fit in just fine with the music and you get a taster of that with the album's opening number and single "After The Silence"
The excellence continues throughout the album's 12 tracks which totals a playtime of roughly 64 minutes. There is a good little mixture here of different styles of Rock here including a mixture of heavy Hard Rock songs ("Crisis Factor", "Ride the Chain" and "Imagined Danger"), slower songs ("Exalted", "Hung the Moon" and "As Far As We Go") and some songs which are quite epic ("Merchants of Khaøs")
What I like about albums like this is that it's not specific to one style of Rock as you have those which are heavy fast and loud throughout and you have those which are soft and melodic throughout but some bands like to blend both into their albums with a mixture of heavy songs and a mixture of melodic tunes as well. KHAOS are just such a band and you will find yourself liking every song on this record as there is not one you'd want to hate.
So now it's time for that all important verdict. I was expecting good things from this album what with me recognizing the singer from a previous band I reviewed and liked and I'm glad to say my expectations were met. From start to end, there is a good diverse mixture of heavy songs, melodic songs and one or two epics thrown in for good measure while at the same time creating something you can listen to, enjoy and not get tired or bored of.
