Karnak Seti - Scars Of Your Decay album cover

KARNAK SETI is definitely a weird name so I searched a bit to see what it means. I found out that "karnak" is a temple from ancient Egypt, while "seti" is the acronym for "Search of Extra Terrestrial Intelligence". Cool huh? Anyway, KARNAK SETI come from the exotic Madeira Island in Portugal, but let me tell you this. Their music has nothing to do with the word "exotic".

"Scars Of Your Decay" was self released by the band in 2009, but got re-released by the UK based label Casket Music this summer. KARNAK SETI's music is a mixture of melodic Thrash and Death Metal drawing influences mostly from the European scene, reminding me bands like THE DUSKFALL, OMNIUM GATHERUM etc. With a heavy, catchy, aggressive and melodic sound, the Portuguese quintet sets the foundations for a bright career. "Scars Of Your Decay" sounds tight and strong from the beginning until the end, with riffs that stick into your mind and not even one filler! Of course we're not talking about the next big thing in the melodic Thrash/Death Metal scene, but KARNAK SETI is a fine sample of melodic brutality performed by good and talented musicians.

After CRUSHING SUN, one more band comes to show that Portugal has some hidden Metal diamonds and the only thing left is for us (and mostly the labels) to find them. Recommended.
