The Middle East might as well be one of the least sought out places for Extreme Metal musicians, but for those who seek to unravel the audio treasures this country possesses, a deep surprise awaits.
KAOTEON, short for Chaotic Aeon has been one of the most active Lebanese bands for the past 9 years, yielding demos since 2004 and recently in 2012 a full length LP after signing with the legendary Osmose Productions, home for some of the most extreme bands I can think of (such as BENIGHTED, MARDUK etc...). "Veni Vidi Vomui", is a delicious mixture of the Metal extremes rebirthed from the vocal chords of a behemoth.
The album is loaded with 11 artillery shells, each exploding your ears differently. "Veni Vidi Vomui" is a an introductory war shout hailing the pride and spirit of the band before the beginning of "Jihannam Wa Bi2sal Massir", an extreme display of remarkable vocal talent and an exploding barrage of mind-melting drums and raw riffs. "One by One", and remade version of "Decreptitude" also make their way into my favorite songs on this album's relentless tracklist.
The content of this full length is ongoing with slaughter and debauchery and throughout my listen shit only got more intense and heavy which led to several replays... Just listen to "Hateforged Retaliation" on repeat like I did and I guess my message would be sent clear. I have never been out of words in trying to describe a Metal album.
One minor complaint I may have with "Veni Vidi Vomui" is with the album's production which I hoped would have been a bit louder and harsher, considering it's released under the legendary Osmose Productions. However, the mastering is still clean and perfect for an Extreme Metal sound... but I can't really compare, there isn't one production formula for amalgamations bands similar to KAOTEON choose to have in their music.
Overall, this is a highly recommended release for all fans of heavy extreme music, and a trip to the Middle East you will never forget. KAOTEON deserve utmost recognition for their work and hopefully in the future "Veni Vidi Vomui" won't be the only rocket they crash into our earlobes.
