I personally was quite pleased with this album overall. This is quite an unknown band. One of the members of the ultimate sea of bands, a sea that has been flowing on throughout the last decades, when it comes to an assorted kind of Metal. Following the so called trend of Metalcore or the new rising of Hardcore music, something that I think that the late 80's generated in full bloom, KAONASHI steps up to the plate with their EP, "Native".
The opening track "Oppenheimer" started out with a dark guitar chord and then transferred into a recording of the court hearing of J. Robert Oppenheimer stating that it would be possible to kill forty million American people in the twenty largest American towns by the use of atomic bombs in one night. It was different, and certainly something I had never heard before. Once "The Basics" started I instantly was reminded of a band called STICK TO YOUR GUNS, mainly by the vocals and lyrics. The lyrics of the song were strong, and I have to say that they were fairly relatable. By the time I started listening to the last track of the album entitled "Hindsight" I was surprised that such awesome lyrics were still out there. With slightly fast drumbeats, some kickass guitar parts, and heavier vocals, I was in awe.
Frankly, after taking this one apart for a fair share of times, I must admit that I'm proud to say that I have found a new band to look forward to for new releases and I'm excited to see what the next few years bring for the Progressive Hardcore band from West Chester, PA.
