Metal maniacs, rejoice! I am proud to present to you: KALMO; signed via Sliptrick Records, hailing from Finnish grounds - performing Doom/Black/Heavy Metal, on the debut full-length studio album entitled: "Gehinnom" (released April 13th, 2021). Since formation in 2017; the soloist in question has 7 singles, an EP and this here debut full-length studio album of which I am introduced to entitled: "Gehinnom". 6 tracks ranging around... KALMO arranges an intricately designed formula on some heavy-hitting Doom/Black/Heavy Metal amalgamations.

Opening up the record with this snarly scour of distorted gnarliness; "Tuho" belts a blistering barrage frenzy in some meaty manifestations of sturdy thuds, rampantly rompy synergy and an amplified slab of solid but concretely gritty foundations of sulfurous volatility that smears with flamboyant grinds. Chiselling dexterity and boisterously bouncy sacrilege smothers speakers with this ritualistic ramification on grumbling grovels, furnaced oppressively that quake with a forged craftsmanship abilty in an unorthodox panache on outrè rips which shred with crunchy adrenaline amongst an extreme noise terror of stability. Roaring with rawly rough tonality while blasphemous, caveman-esque grovellings attribute an infectious aesthetic in injecting venomous versatility on vehemence weight with punchy calamity embedded.

Soloist Mika, The Main Cadaver distils a bludgeoning heft amongst a drilling but droning impulse in impactful but barbaric musical reverberation that rumbles with trembling oomph and chunky tightness that surge with thumpy stompiness, while striking pursuits of organic substance revolved around a distinctively distinguished element in implementing grunty growls, guttural bellows and barking barliness. "Tull" demonstrates a nimble swiftness on sludgy execution, creeping along the walls like a stalking nightcrawler looking to jump out of the shadows onto the unbeknownst prey to onslaught them. Malicious contortion fabricates a rifting remedy on ominously jarring riffing technicality while more profusely robust synthetics systematically create a dynamic virtuosity of mellifluous deathliness for a savage solo effort, in which will soothe doom craving eardrums in no time.

"TSEPVSL" monolithically swelters with salubrious tempos on robotic perseverance that persists with seamless prodigiousness while mythical strife stridently rollicks with galloping chugs, frolicking immensity and barking bombast - amongst an experimental trampling of melody that haralds ballistically with wraith foreboding integrity. "Mitään ei jää" enthralled a groundbreaking contrast in heady density, euphonic pummelling & pounding swarves that really make one feel like a cavernous dweller along with the vibrantly potent momentum supplied. Until the penultimate banger "Marjaana" flairs with more sinister grunts, in a sense of slow battering and bruising potential that unearths some spellbinding songwriting musicianship that's rather symbolic while viciously malevolent but abominably filthy for good measure.

Overall concluding "Gehinnom" with the finale epic basher: "Kuolleen linnun laulu"; I am compelled to say that KALMO delivered a short yet monstrous offering of what seemed to be a doom infested fundamental in flexibly wicked transparency that will make one walk with furore and move majestically like a groove-bombing crab dance dweller in no time, with maddening mobility. Wanting heavy, bizarre and brutal metal? This will piledrive you with some evil empowering entrance full force. Certainly worth spinning, replaying and experiencing a good few times - worthy of listening to should these apparitions intrigue you, most definitely check it out. It's definitely not record of the year material, but it's enough to keep one pleased until the next deliverance.
