Just Before Dawn - The Aftermath album cover

"A comrade fallen, an enemy dead, never lose sight that all men bleed red."

JUST BEFORE DAWN new album "The Aftermath" encompasses yet another battle record. Released on CHAOS RECORDS, "The Aftermath" has a slow yet brutal beginning, allowing the listener to get introduced to the context and concept of the album. Pretty much what it says on the tin, "The Aftermath" is about the beginning, duration and aftermath of a battle. From the very start it's about looking "Across a battlefield" and seeing comrades and the enemy dying from "Incoming" bombs, the "Bastard Battlions" that lie ahead of you whilst you fight to get "Through The Mud" in ghastly trenches. The air sirens at the beginning of "Death From Above", also echo a reference to the sirens used in WW2 in the London blitz and right across the UK and Europe. The concluding track "Aftermath" deals with the grief and loss after the battle is over, yet continuing on and cleaning up despite the horrific scenes and devastation.

The heavy sound to this album is somewhat predictable, yet fitting, not only for the genre but the subject - the weight of responsibility, the burden of fighting a war and making difficult decisions to face the violence.

Overall, the album should translate very well in a live show, with many continuous mosh/circle pits and walls of death to be the last puzzle piece in this bittersweet victory.
