Look At Me Now
Junkyard Drive
Since 2014 Junkyard Drive have has been determined to be the band provide the soundtrack to life in the fast lane with us the audience as the passengers. The band hailing from Denmark with three albums under their belts ,with lots of concerts and tours around most of the world bring us the fourth album “Look At Me Now”. The new album also features a few changes to the line up, also a much needed look at internal relationships ,a restored focus and renewed joy of playing. ”Look At Me Now” brings in two new guitarists Oliver Hartmann and Kristoffer Kristensen with experience in other genres of music other than rock which in turn have brought some fresh ideas to the song writing process. Back more energetic than ever with a new album presents the band with a new energy and inspiration.
“Somewhere To Hide” the first track sets the mood for this album perfectly. It's a a superb high energy track full of groove, some great guitar work from Oliver Hartmann and Kristoffer Kristensen which along with great vocals and percussion starts this album off with a bang. "Shoot From The Hip” a more steady sounding rhythm melodic rocking track with a great guitar solo. ”Tearaway” high octane rock n' roll about a certain type of female a great track with some great lyrics, the tone of Kris's vocals really blend in with the pace of the track with some more great guitar riffs and hooks. ”Black Wolf” starts at a more slower pace but then explodes into a more faster speed but in parts the track drops down tempo, which kept me listening with intrigue and anticipation. A mixture of classic hard rock and grunge aspects to this track. ”Beauty Fool” has a nice funky melody and rhythm feel to the track a really great track with a Seventies influence, “Blood Red Sky” has some great great power chords, more great lyrics and Seventies rock influence evident in within the sound and melodies of the songs and vocals. ”Saw You Hanging There” which starts off as a great power ballad which midway through the track kicks into some hard rock delivered with power ,some great lead vocals with great backing vocals to match. ”The Tide Is High” which no is not a cover! ,is a great rock track with some Southern Rock hooks thrown in too. ”Pipe Down” is just another great hard rock track its full of energy musically, vocally and what this whole album as been all about. ”Afterglow” is ballad which is a great track, which slows down the tempo of the previous tracks beautifully a beautiful track with some subtle vocals, acoustic guitar and melodies another great track.
Junkyard Drive have delivered what they set out to do with "Look At Me Now" ,you can sense the renewed desire within their music and song writing, also with the new additions of Oliver Hartmann and Kritoffer Kristensen it has definitely added some new dynamics to the bands sound, there is some great guitar riffs, licks and solos. As a whole the band sound full of energy, the end result been a great album of high octane, no nonsense take it or leave it ,ballsy hard rock. This is an album that is definitely worth listening to, which I will have on rotation for a long time.
