A warm welcome to the world of Modern Melodic Death Metal, with their DEBUT album, JUMPSCARE brings us "Don't Close Your Eyes". A conceptual album performed by Ciro "Kirion" Silvano on vocals, Vincenzo "Vic" Mussolino on guitars, Andrea Di Martino on guitars, Salvatore Ciccarelli on bass, and Graziano Ciccarelli on drums. This album was recorded in Crenna, Italy at Sonitus Studios and co-produced with Tommaso Monticelli, the guitarist of Genus Ordinis Dei. Album art and cover logo are created by Lina Mussolino.

"Don't Close Your Eyes" is based on the decay of modern society and reflections on all the bad things around us and our reactions to those things. "Don't close your eyes, it's time to rise" it urges us. This album comes at us with fast and hard sound, one whose sharp edges are softened by its poetic guitar. Jumpscare, by definition, refers to a tactic used in horror films or online videos. It is intended to surprise the audience with an abrupt change in image or event. Falling Tears has beautiful guitar intro, a perfect tune drops into heavy vocals. The exemplary guitar is maintained throughout, with absolute crisp composition. Its tune one of magical rises and falls into lyrical wonder. I would have to say that those stringed melodies stand out as my favorite in the whole of "Don't Close Your Eyes".

Dead Bodies - The whole basis behind this song is the futility of war and the mass of deaths it causes. "Is this war what you want?" it asks. A deeply dark song that reminds us to weigh the value of life over fighting for things like oil. These poignantly thoughtful words are presented to us with fast and steady guitar, and dark drum beats, and artful bass guitar. Earth Decay - Vincenzo "Vic" Mussolino and Andrea Di Martino combined play some more of that emotionally stirring and amazing guitar and this song is a good example of that. They lead this song with such good momentum it lays the groundwork for Ciro "Kirion" Silvano's dark and hard hitting vocals.

Sickness - Talks about feeling the sickness and pain. "You can fight / But I am your state of mind." Again, we are greeted by melodious magic. This album, this song is truly macabre in its darkness. Begging us to see this darkness and react. "Don't Close Your Eyes" is well worth the listen. An album that is poetic and intense, with deeply intelligent lyrics. From beginning to end is well put together and produced, to tell its story in melodic beauty. I can't wait to hear a sophomore album from these five Italian masters. Released on October 7th, 2019. Go check it out, you won't be disappointed.
