Hands that Built the World
Jordan Red
Today, as modern forms of playing Metal and Rock are in evidence, some Old School fans try to evade what is new and/or different from the usual, something that tries to take you out of your comfort zone to the actual world. And it's hard to understand such point of view, because music is good without being limited by temporal aspects and limits. One proof is "Hands that Built the World", the first album of the UK based band JORDAN RED. Mixing aspects of modern Rock and modern Punk Rock with aspects of Alternative Metal and Rock alike, the band really shows an ample range of musical possibilities, sometimes working on a modern and accessible trench (like heard on "Awake", a song that's hard to resist to), on other becomes more Alternative Rock in terms of using different elements (as the Groove rhythm under a silk approach, as heard on "Way Down").
You can call the album whatever you want, for their music allows many different interpretations, but honestly: it sounds different from the usual, a refreshing experience and a massive hit of catchy energy. The album was produced, mixed, and mastered by the hands of Romesh Dodangoda at Long Wave Studios. All the efforts were done in a way to bring the band the right sonority: clean and defined (to be accessible and in a form that can be understood), but with the essential 'dirty' touch that every Rock album must bear in every musical subgenre you can think of. And such idea was taken seriously to a point near perfection.
The album is charming and full of many accessible moments, what will earn the band fans from different musical trenches. And hearing to songs as "Awake" (a powerful Modern Rock filled with energy and with an excellent chorus, and the vocals are excellent), "Spilling My Blood" (a more accessible modern song, based on a very good set of contrasts of parts with abrasive guitars, and others with introspective and clean chords), "Way Down" (some modern Groove appears in the rhythms, with perfect hooking melodies flowing from the songs), "Hands that Built the World" (another Modern Rock hit, permeated by accessible melodies and catchy instrumental arrangements), "Freak Show" (a frantic and solid Rock 'n' Roll song filled with modern energy, something as AC/DC could be young again, and what lovely backing vocals in many moments), "Before They Burn Us All" (these guys really knows how to create charming choruses, and this song has a great one, indeed), "We Are Everybody" (another moment when the modern outfit of the band becomes evident in the melodies), and "Cast a Flame" are proofs of these words. The others are equally excellent.
It's really great to hear something like "Hands that Built the World", so if the reader is a fan of modern expressions in Rock, or just a person that wants to hear music and enjoy free time, JORDAN RED is the right band for you.
