Javelin - Fragments Of The Inner Shadow album cover

JAVELIN are a bunch of veterans, dedicated musicians from Germany who have been faithfully living their dream since almost 30 years, their persistence, their strong determination and their absolute faith in Classic Metal is obvious and unquestionable.

This band composed by some true Metalheads was founded in 1982, and had evolved from traditional Hard Rock sound to a more Heavy Metal styled band, but their first CD was only published in late 1997 as a self-released five-track EP "Seasons Of Grey", and after another 12 years of absence, the next release in 2009, their eight tracks "Dark Broken Land" saw a surprising return to a fine shape, since then I was waiting for a validation of my numerous expectations. Now Pure Underground Records presents their first real full-length studio-album "Fragments of the Inner Shadow" that was officially out in October 25th, as a bonus: JAVELIN had re-recorded two songs, the title tracks of their past EPs.

Their music is firmly rooted in the European Metal tradition with galloping rhythms ("Down") and some lyrical vocalizing in the great bold Dickinsonian fashion with a slight darker feel or a more US Metal contemporary flavors, but don't get me wrong, there is only orthodox elements out of the Book of Heavy Metal, no modern bullshits just a real energetic stainless steel in the most unadulterated way.

The most recommended moments are the song "Healing" in a half-ballad mode and also the more adventurous "Captured Under Sand" that can compete with other powerful cuts such as the mega somber "Falling" and the remake of the more aggressive "Dark Broken Land".

"Fragments Of The Inner Shadow" is another proof that JAVELIN's Metal hearts are 100% pure, it's an enthusiastic and sheer music under the brand of old school Metal made by Metalheads for Metalheads with honesty and passion, there is not a single trace of originality or genius, just a virgin alloy composed of a mix between IRON MAIDEN meets early QUEENSRYCHE meets ICED EARTH meets HEIR APPARENT and finally, it's a definitive accomplishment for this admirable and inexorable spirit that possess this unflagging band.
