Insidead - Eleysis album cover

There are some times when this hobby is a real pleasure, this is one of the occasions. This album rocks, and you should hear it. Even if Thrash isn't really your thing I'd recommend you to check this out because not only is the Thrash good, but the other elements are very good too, from more Nu Metal sounding bits to the singing near the end of the track "Eleysis", which reminds me of the great ORPHANED LAND.

I first heard the opening track "We The Hellenes" on the bus to work, and it blew my socks off. This is a very cool opening to the album, from the slow build up to the crunching riffs and more developed sounds that complement the pure thrash energy. There are many types of Thrash, and these guys take their inspiration from the likes of SLAYER and KREATOR, both of whom would be proud to open an album with "We The Hellenes". There are some crazy sounds in this song, instruments that I don't even know that left me impressed by how they weave the different sounds together. This in the first five minutes of the album, wow.

The opening to "Together As One" shows a slower more melodic style is not beyond them, then everything kicks in but it retains the melody, before moving into the full on verses. This one had me banging my head, now I'm sore. Great variety in this song.

I am not supposed to write about every track, but I want to tell you about every note. "The Cave Myth" is just quality, with a lovely big dual guitar bit that slows down the tempo and makes to want to sell your liver to play like this. "Reign Into the Light" for me is a departure from the usual sound, less Thrash and more diverse sounds that remind me of some Nu Metal, but that's ok. The title track is epic, and just great. I really enjoyed all the cool stuff going on it this song, excellent singing from all concerned.

The later tracks show even more variety, with "Athena" more a rocking number than Thrash. It reminds me somewhat of Berri Txarrak. "The 7 Dogs" is a fine track, again sounding more nu metal but just as good as anything else. Penultimate song "Zero Point" is the only weak point of the album for me. It's pure fury without the usual song craft of previous songs, though there are some nice guitars throughout.

The final track "Alexander" seems to have already generated some interest and plenty of love. Judging by what I've found on the net, people seem to like this song a lot. I don't quite agree, but I can see where the love comes from. It's maybe not so much my thing but it's long and full of goodness.

My favourite Thrash albums have been METALLICA - "Master of Puppets" and OVERKILL's "Ironbound". This album is perhaps no worse than those, but until I've heard it 100 times I don't know how well it reminds with me. Right now I think it's great, but will I think the same in a year's time? I think so, but I will not know for sure until then. It seems to slightly trail off towards the end, but it's very enjoyable album.
