INQUIRING BLOOD is a German Death Metal band and their new album "Morbid Creation" is a perfect name; the album is straight up brutal.  I would say it is more in the vain of old school death metal-it contains a lot of groove with a touch of chaotic sound.  It isn't very technical or overly complex but it's nice for a more modern death metal band to eschew these attributes for a more brutal assault.  Honestly, you would be hard pressed to find a more densely heavy album than this one.

Daniel Siebert's vocals are super deep with sharp growls and higher pitched screams but don't worry, he doesn't go into the dreaded pig squeal territory.   This man sounds truly inhuman, he just really has that straight from the gut death metal growl down really well.  Obviously he is rather monotone in his delivery but when it comes to this genre, you want brutal hell, not versatility. Guitarist Marco Gronwald is a riff master who really knows how to use brutality to his advantage.  His riffs are super heavy but also flow really well in the songs creating a wave of groove that is arresting and also head bang worthy.  On "Death Row" around the 3:19 we get a perfect example of a riff that can give you whiplash while catching you in its web of groove.  The aptly titled "Swarm" devours you like a swarm of bugs; his riffs in the middle of the song could strip the bone from your body if you turned the volume up loud enough.

If the guitars are a chainsaw of violence, then Lars Robrecht bass is a war hammer that crushes everything.  Even if there wasn't any guitar on the album, his bass would still make it heavy as hell.  The quick bass opening of "Suffocation" is full of thick slabs of hammered bass.  Not that the guitar needs it, but the bass holds up the riffs really well.  With the album having a bit of a thrash metal vibe to it at times, having this super heavy low end keeps is firmly planted on the brutal side of death metal. Florian Otten's drums are somewhat of a surprise. With a band this heavy, I would expect him to just play brutal drums for the sake of it but that thankfully isn't the case.   He is always relentless but never over does it and it helps that he hits everything really hard and crisp.  He plays double bass very well, using the guitar's rhythm to decide how heavy or fast he should play such as on "The Horsekiller." where the he plays along with the crunchy breakdown in the song's middle.

All in all, this is a solid death metal album that with groove and a touch of thrash.  It's heavy enough for any death metal fan but not too brutal for anyone not into brutal death but it's also old school enough to show us the past of the genre while letting us see how well it's still doing in the future.
