Conquerors of the New World
Inhuman
INHUMAN is a Death Metal band based out of Costa Rica, Central America. Formed in 2011, this is the band's second self-released full-length album, and contains eight tracks. I will highlight some of the sounds from select songs on here. The title track, "Conquerors of the New World" opens the onslaught. Stylistically, I would lean more towards the Technical Death Metal side of this genre. The varied but frenzied drumming seems to drive the overall sound, and although there is one fairly discernable main riff, the guitars dance in and around in several different patterns. The Death Metal vocals are about what you would come to expect, but not ultra-low or super-high as they sometimes are. "Soulless Dead Eyes" is a little bit of a shorter track, but has lost none of its tenacity. The energy and vigor it takes to play this level of intensiveness is impressive. "Hold Your Crucifix" has a dissonant entrance with some nifty bass work in particular. From there it does settle into a core sound of brutality. The bridge leading to the guitar solo offers some nice variance in sound. "Feed on Human Flesh" is the shortest track on the album at just over three minutes. It's primarily an exercise in super tight rhythms and anguished vocal lamentations. The focus here seems to be in pulling you down quickly and not letting you up until the very end. "Stabbed to Death" is an impressive closer to the album and nearly nine minutes long. There is a veritable cadre of riffs and chord patterns that somehow connect the various passages of the song with relative ease. This is Death/Technical Death Metal in the realm of what fans of the genre would expect. The integrity of the product is probably its biggest strength. You will find power, brutality and head bashing energy, but you won't find much variation from the tight genre boundaries.
