Infirmity - Descendants Of Sodom album cover

Los Angeles is a bustling metropolis that is known for celebrities and a strong musical community. If you dive real deep into LA, there's a band that is beginning to make some noise. INFIRMITY is making some waves in the metal community with their raw and aggressive sound. They have been working diligently on their debut album "Descendants Of Gomorrah" that will be released on November 9th 2019 through Lost Apparitions Records. Blending their aggressive interpretation of Death/Black Metal this four-piece group brings a memorable effort to the genre with "Descendants Of Gomorrah". Formed in 2010, INFIRMITY seeks to create a blistering path through the genre and their debut album is a testament to that goal.

The first thing that strikes you about "Descendants Of Gomorrah", even before the first listen, is the album art. The art is a mesmerizing depiction of a city being razed to the ground and the chaos that surrounds it. I must say it is a great rendering as well as a good preview of the album. The art sets the tone about what you are going to experience. Once you begin to listen to the debut album from INFIRMITY, you enter "Gomorrah Aflame" which begins with a creepy yet almost calming piano melody. Then the violent sounds of aggressive instrumentals born of Hell hit you hard. This instrumental track really sets the tone of the album. The namesake track "Descendants Of Gomorrah" introduces you to the powerful vocal work that abruptly changes from high shrieks to deafening lows. This song truly showcases the bands Black Metal depth while the instrumental work pays homage to others from the genre. This track also blends fast paced rhythms with slow melodic segments to form a very interesting soundscape.

"Infatuated With Intoxication" is a blistering hell ride that drives to the bowels of a fiery inferno. This track is especially interesting as it offers a strong guitar solo that is rarely seen in this genre of Metal. As you move further through the album, you are met with a brutal wall of sound with "Depths Of Regression". This track is brutal and crushing. The instrumental work is heavy, sludgy, and is accentuated with soul shattering low vocals.

INFIRMITY has created a strongly produced album with "Descendants of Gomorrah". Black Metal fans and Death Metal fans will both find a home with this album. With the backing of Lost Apparitions Records, you can be assured that there will be more from INFIRMITY down the road. As a debut album, I find that it is well written, well-crafted musically, and the production quality of the album is above decent. Furthermore, the other strong points are the names of the tracks themselves. It seems to me that they specifically chose the names so that you would remember them after listening to them. The album art is striking to the point that it does imprint on your mind as well. All in all, I would say that this is a strong debut for a very talented band!
