INFERNAL MAJESTY is a Canadian Thrash Metal band that was formed in the year 1987. The band toyed with a few names like INFERNAL PRESENCE OVERLORD and LSD before settling on their current moniker. They also went through a bunch of line-up changes, but the core of the band with Steve Terror, Kenny Hallman, and Chris Bailey, remaining the same. The very first album, "None Shall Defy", released in 1987, was met with critical acclaim. The band went through a brief hiatus before re-forming and releasing, "Unholier than Thou", in the year 1998. The band has released 4 full-length studio albums in their lifetime and they have plans to tour in support of the current album.

"Enter the World of the Undead" is the first song of the album and the band gives the listener an invitation into their world of unreal Thrash riffs and throaty growls. Rapid riffs that do not give one bit of slack coupled with rasping vocals, the track barrels along at a brisk pace. There exists tiny pockets in between the track where the melody breaks and allows for a wee Progressive sounding bass doodle but otherwise this song gives no quarters."Signs of Evil" is another ripper of a Thrash track that shares the same lineage as the music of German heavyweights KREATOR. The track is complex, varied and has riffs dripping with Groove elements and makes a worthy companion to the scratchy vocals. "Another Day in Hell" has an acoustic beginning before thundering riffs and guttural vocals add an aura of dread to the mix. The song is steeped in Old School Metal with guitar interludes that sound similar to the brand of Metal that DEATH played. The track "No God" is the standout song of the album and the combination of harsh vocals, Progressive sounding riffs and devilish lyrics make this a savage song to listen to. A lead guitar solo that clearly has an Old School sound and riffs that allow for furious headbanging will delight fans of Death/Thrash Metal. "False Flag" is a short track that consists of a commentary on the 9/11 attacks and an eerie one to boot. "Extinction Level Event" is the last song on the album and it begins with demonic whispers set to creepy music. The hoarse vocal of Chris Bailey tears into the song and it compliments the rage of the song. The track is an updated, angry comrade to the type of music that the Californian legends SLAYER unleash upon the world so proudly.

This is an insanely good album and the band manages to weave a wall of vicious and violent sounds. The musicianship of this seasoned band is showcased brilliantly in their music and song writing skill. Demonic Blackened Thrash Metal at its evil best, the band has bestowed upon the world a brutal album with wicked riffs. There are instances in the album that has definite Old School Thrash Metal influences as well as Progressive harmonies. This album is an amalgamation of Thrash and Death Metal sounds although the album is heavily favoring a Death Metal sound. The only drawback, if any, which I felt is that the songs in themselves, felt a little repetitious and chorus heavy. Lyrically, as the name suggests, the tracks deal with themes like death, Satan, war and hate. Overall, this is a stellar album by the band and I hope that they keep the momentum going and continue to make such deliciously wicked music.<
