Nigrescent Years Of Chaos
Infernal Majesty

INFERNAL MAJESTY is one of those names that is synonymous with Canadian Metal; along with the likes of VOIVOD and SLAUGHTER, all of whom have made a lasting impact on Extreme Metal.
In INFERNAL MAJESTY'S case, things looked promising in 1987 with the release of "None Shall Defy"; an album that nearly thirty years later is still considered a classic Death-Thrash record.
Prior to that album came the "Nigresent Dissolution" demo in 1986, which definitely introduced a fair group of young Thrashers to the next stage known as Death. Then in 1991 they re-surfaced with another demo, along with a new vocalist named Vince, who sadly passed away after their third demo.
Having produced three albums and after gaining a respectable reputation, the band then entered a state of limbo.
The first reissues of the band came on Dutch Label From Beyond. This time - coming from the same country through Vic Records - this collection includes the first three demos from 86, 88 and 91, along with a very interesting booklet of graphics and photographs as wells notes by vocalist Chris Baley.
This is a very worthy collection with a newly re-edited tuning and is a good way to take the listener back in time to the origins of this particular scene.
If you're not a fan of re-releases I wouldn't say that this is one that is likely to change your mind. The recordings are a little on the dated side; so I suppose it depends on how interested you are in hearing rough and early material. I would say though that it will probably appeal to older fans who were around at the time, as they will feel more of a connection with it than the younger listeners.
Nevertheless, this definitely feels like a release that was done with genuine intentions to give something to fans rather than a money grab, so if you're a fan of the band it is surely recommended.
