Infected Humans - Unexpected Traumatic Experiences album cover

INFECTED HUMANS hailing from Cuenca, Ecuador are a Brutal Death Metal band. "Unexpected Traumatic Experiences" is their debut album and it includes with Ewan Lambert (CORPSEFLESH), Sonny Trujillo (CADAVEROUS INFEST), and Pipo Castellanos (CAFETERASUB) a number of guest vocalists. The album was recorded and mixed by Claudio Carrasco at Idea Delirante Records. It was released via California label Gore House Productions which is specialized in Brutal Death Metal. The album has a length of about 28 minutes.

After a short intro, INFECTED HUMANS start with an almost half an hour long carnage which consists of brutal growls, relentlessly hammering drums, and flesh-ripping guitars. "Unexpected Traumatic Experiences" is a high speed approach with little variations and breaks. "Killing Persevately Depressed" and "Ejaculating Illumination" are good examples for the kick-in-your-face approach of INFECTED HUMANS to Brutal Death Metal. The drumming parts, blast-beats and double-bass drums are simply insane although the sound of the snares is not really at its best. The guitar riffs are dark and heavy, with a bit more technicality on "Ejaculating Illumination". The guttural vocals are at the low to medium end.

"Calcining Human Flesh" starts with heavy and aggressive rhythm guitars at mid-tempo before the song erupts into a fireworks of blisteringly fast blast-beats and highly paced guitar riffs. The break near the end of the song includes the rare occurrence of a lead guitar sequence. "Calcining Human Flesh" was uploaded on YouTube by the label with the link given below.

"Paraphilic Infestation Of Internal Torment" and "Altered By Substances" belong to the more technical songs on the album especially in terms of the guitars. "Paraphilic Infestation Of Internal Torment" also includes a few more breaks making the song structure a bit more complex and it comes with short cinematic in and outros. "Altered By Substances" is one of the few songs with a lead guitar solo near the end. There are a couple of other songs with lead guitars as well, but in "Altered By Substances", the lead guitar contributes nicely to the song. While the song structures of most songs on the album are simple and straightforward, there is an exception to the rule in "Chaotic Biological Organization" which is the longest song on "Unexpected Traumatic Experiences". The song transitions from mid-tempo to high pace and back with a number of distortions and twists including some short acoustic guitar sequences.

"Unexpected Traumatic Experiences" is a decent debut album. It is straightforward, kick-in-your-face Brutal Death Metal with not a great deal of technicality. It is simple and authentic. The sound of INFECTED HUMANS is largely driven by the machine gun-like drums. The guitars sound brutal and dark, I would have liked to hear more technical sequences. The vocals sound a bit too monotone with very little variation throughout. The production of the album is not really at its best: the drums are too dominating with the snare sound being very thin; and the vocals are too quiet. It will be interesting to see how INFECTED HUMANS develop in the future with their releases.
