Coming from Chicago, Illinois USA, INDIGN, pronounced In-dine were formed in 2004, but after one of their founders Rich Tanner, was deployed to Bagram, and other members to work and other pursuits, the band folded.  Rich happily made it back from Afghanistan, and to bring the story up to date, in 2019 with the current line up this their debut album was recorded.

The album covers many things, that in the current times we, as a species find ourselves in are very opposite, topics such as isolationism, religion, or more accurately total discontent with religion, and the final moment before the end due to disease being written a year ago, the hairs on the back of my neck are standing up thinking about it. I have to be honest, their sound starts a  little to too raw edged Thrash for me.  I am not a fan of the vocal style on the first 3 songs and the music is to much of an impenetrable wall of noise.  I like my thrash, but this is just a bit to extreme for my tastes.

That said there are some diamonds in the rough.  "King To Pawn" I liked.  "Hostile Content" was a really dark moody track with light and shade, in both the vocals and the intensity of the playing, fantastically moody and interesting song. "Necromantic Light" is a different band from that on the first few songs.  A very modern sound, highly polished, dare I say it sounds more like something my teenage son would listen to.  As is "I Can't Breathe," but I' afraid it is not too my taste, and again it is the screamer type vocals, that are not for me.

The title track "Autumn Storm" is again a better track, more complex, the female guest vocals of Ania Tarnowska, there is texture to the sound, and even the screaming is used sparingly and adds to the sonic tapestry of, probably te strongest track on the album. Final cut "The Enemy Inside" is I'm afraid not vocally to my taste again, which is a pity as the playing is very good.

All in all a mixed and uneven record for me.  I don't know if it simply some of the songs were from their previous incarnation and others written on their return, but it sounds like two wholly different bands at times. My (lack of) enjoyment of the vocals, is definitely down to taste.  If you like this style of extreme Thrash bordering on Metalcore then you will enjoy more than I did. There were parts I did like, just not enough for it to live with me.Overall: 6
