Crux, Lupus, Corona
Inconcessus Lux Lucis

This is a weird release for me to review, and twice as weird for me to like. As honestly, I'm not a black metal guy. But INCONCESSUS LUX LUCIS, an experienced Black Metal duo hailing from England has created something amazing. In this four-song EP I've felt so many different styles infused together. 70s Hard Rock riffs, Thrash Metal, Eastern scales, and the distinguished Black Metal production. "Via Dolorosa", the path of suffering and the intro to the EP is a subtle track that really gives the first glimpse of these fusions you're about to witness.
There's a lot of interesting musicianship in the tracks to come after the intro. It's worth to mention that talent and skill are not lacking and the platform is intriguing. The lyrics of-course deal with the occult and the Christian mythology. "Lupus" is a great track. Intricate and captivating. Lyrics don't venture into banality. Maybe the highlight of the release. The last track though feels too much of the same, it feels lacking and full of banalities, except of the solos which were maybe the only thing in that track that didn't force a sigh out of me.
Crux Lupus Corona is a very solid release, yet full of intricateness and interesting jumps. While it's solid, it's not uniform. Personally, I would've probably feel more connected to the release if it had ventured more into the 70s. Their take on this era is refreshing.<
