Alright! (Sitting cozily on a chair) So we've got here seven people from Bolognia, Italy (tasting coffee). Ok ok... what do they play? (Checking Facebook) Alright, it's written Avantgarde Black Metal. Hmm. Brought out on 17th November 2014. 45 minutes long. 11 tracks. Seems interesting. Let's see what these Bolognians are made of. First track:"Blu". Pretty atmospheric entrance. Peacefull. Guitars appears. Simple composition. Second track, "il Profumo del Blu". Intro with same theme as in previous song. We can catch some progressive parts here. Choruses are nicely done.
"Rosso" absolutely departs from the previous tracks. Almost 4 minutes long sitar music. It was composed by Leo Vertunni, This Oriental part of album doesn't really fit. "Il Sapore del Rosso" comes back to original style. Harsh, Black Metal vocals intersects with clean male and female vocals.
"Verde" is calm, classical guitar composition. Again It's departing part of album. It introduces us to next song. "il Sussurro del Verde" is melancholic composition, based on male and female vocals and simple guitar melody. After this, we face "Giallo". Vital classical guitar song, without any vocals. Surprisingly, from nowhere appears a metal outro.
"La Carezza del Giallo" starts heavy, and then immediately comes violins and vocals. Again, Black Metal intersects with light violins and vocals. "Nero" is short and ambient, preceding "la Visione del Nero". This track I like the most, with rather sensual and subtly parts. "In Vento" is a light outro, on guitar with female voice.
Well, this is how more or less the stuff looks like. I have mixed feelings. IN TORMENTATA QUIETE tried to mix many styles in single tracks; it made album messy. Actually, I don't like Black Metal parts much at all; the harsh vocals become an annoyance, sometimes completely unnecessary. Riffs, at times, were even weak. However, the drumming was top tier. The 'sitar' track felt completely unnecessary.
I'm a big fan of experiments with folk, black/death/thrash/heavy metal and overall proggresion. But IN TROMENTATA QUIETE exaggerated. The Bolognians tried to express themselves, by putting more and more things, instead of making complex riffs. I can commend really good, melodic parts and choruses. Ok, enough of this. I drank all my coffee, my judgment? It's simply an untapped potential.
