Ilium - My Misanthropia album cover

Born in Australia, Melodic Power Metal merchants ILIUM have been making great music since 1998, right after the demise of the original act ORACLE, which was active between 1990 and 1994 ,now with the release of their sixth full length disc called "My Misanthropia" and published by their new label Nightmare Records, they are opening a new chapter in their rich story line!

The new sound they've achieved is a massive improvement from what they were doing in let's say "Genetic Memory" (2011); "My Misanthropia" is a perfect example of a band that work under a refreshed method.

Not only is the production level a huge step up but they've matured immensely as musicians and of course the addition of famed American singer Lance King as frontman, is the best strategic move to replace Mike DiMeo (ex RIOT/ex MASTERPLAN/ CREATION'S END) and consequently showing a more variety in their sound.

This syndrome is particularly well represented in anthemic numbers like "Quetzalcoatl" and "The Cryptozoologist" where they offer a more present Symphonic direction and in the slight Pop colours of "Orbiting a Sun of Sadness" revealing a more 80's sensibility.

Their new apparent bottom line of ILIUM's music, is stylistically expanded with ingredients coming from the European Heavy Metal and mixed with the American Progressive Metal early 90's sound.

Thanks to the vocal style of Lance King (ex BALANCE OF POWER/ex PYRAMAZE/ex AVIAN) - James La Brie Meets Bruce Dickinson, the dual exchanging leads and the galloping tendency, the best tracks like "The Hatchling", the fast paced "Penny Black", or the sublime "Godless Theocracies" and the vicious "Zenith To Zero" are quite similar with early QUEENSRYCHE or late 80's IRON MAIDEN... However the opening title track show a different-sounding delivery from Lance, more agressive and less dramatic than his usual tradition, still happily ever present in song like "Lingua Franca".

The first CD 1000 copies of "My Misanthropia" will be released as a "Limited Edition Double Digipak" including a five tracks bonus CD "Wendigo", including three originals and two very special remakes namely "Tragedy" (The BEE GEES cover) and "Love is All" (originally composed by Roger Glover and Ronnie James Dio).

"My Misanthropia" show an updated temperament and this new release is warmly recommended to the enthusiastic fans of melodic Metal in its most emblematic and orthodox mode.
