A War Against You

Even though I usually say that my music journey began with Heavy Metal, truth be told, it actually started with Punk Rock. Every now and then, I do find myself going back and listening to the songs that really actually got me into Rock music. I don't get that much Punk music for review, but when I do, I try to make the most of what I get, even if it's good or bad. Now the time has come for me to review a new Punk Rock album that will be released this month in this New Year and it comes from a group called IGNITE.
Formed in 1993 in the suburbs of Orange County, this quintet of Punk Rock musicians released their debut album "Scarred for Life" in 1994. Since then, they have released 4 more studio albums, 2 EP's, 2 split albums and one compilation. The gaps in between the main studio albums have varied; it's now been 10 years since the release of their fifth album, so the time has come for this successful Punk quintet to release a new record and that will be the subject of this review. It's name is "A War Against You", which is out this month.
Clocking in at around 44 minutes across 13 tracks, the new IGNITE CD opens up with the catchy heavy hitting, "Begin Again", and it closes off with the unique song of two halves, "Work". The latter starts off with just guitar and vocals for the first half before a band performance kicks in for the second half with lyrics sung in a foreign language, which I find unique.
The album is chock full of heavy hitting Punk tunes and there is not a single dull moment or time for rest. The moment one track ends, another one launches itself at you meaning there is a constant, but awesome assault of heavy hitting songs, that will keep you listening and headbanging to each one.
Some of these heavy blood pumping hitters include "Nothing Can Stop Me", "Oh No Not Again", "You Saved Me", "Where I'm From", "How Is This Progress?" and "Descend" with everything else in between. All of the songs are crafted with high-octane energy, punchy vocals, heavy guitar riffs and a tight pounding rhythm section that is guaranteed to get those heads banging and those horns up.
Production on this album sounds crisp and sweet meaning there is plenty of enjoyment, as you can enjoy every song without fail, and that is a good thing as there is plenty to enjoy and like about this album.
Bottom line, the new IGNITE CD is a great album, chock full of heavy hitting catchy Punk Rock tunes that will be guaranteed to get your heads banging too as you crank that volume knob up to 11 and beyond. Highly recommended for Punk fans and anyone who likes heavy hitting energetic head banging music.<
