Metal maniacs, rejoice! The Thrasher returns to present to you: IDLEWAR; signed via Idlewar Records, hailing from California - performing Alternative/Indie Rock/Metal, on their debut album entitled "Impulse". (Released 30th September 2016)

I'm acquainted with the album in question, "Impulse"; I begin this unprecedented discovery by scratching my head. Right off the earphones; the opening track, "Stone In My Heel", had this sound production that sounded a little off at first glance, making me feel a little uncomfortable - it almost sounded Prog-esque with the instrumentation sounding a little messy, however...after a second listen; I found myself enjoying a nice slab of enjoyable Hard Rock, that elements more towards the Indie sub-genre - hinting at an Alternative atmosphere. What's to note about this quintet is that they trick you by showcasing a distinctive flair in their instrumentation; intricate design plagues this record, filled with an articulate yet infectious songwriting in which helps you appreciate the undercurrent more effectively - this is effective when you give in to the essence of the raw nature IDLEWAR portends to have become.

Consisting of James Blake on vocals that has a typical stoner element to it; it sounds clean yet rough at the same time, showcasing a complex distinctive in his array of flashy vocalization. Also on bass; the powerhouse thrives to uphold the sound production elegantly and roughly. Pete Pagonis on drums delivers a pummeling enticement in his contribution also. With a dexterous flair of fulfilling riffery; Rick Graham on guitar showcases an efficient supply of adaptive element at his disposal. "Impulse" is an enjoyably constructed album that grabs you in after multiple listens; soon after, you'll open your mind to some fabulously hard rocking hymns...implementing a sufficient amount of substances that compiles unique aesthetics to the formula. Comprising of 10 tracks; ranging at around 35 minutes, it's safe to say that this is not your typical Metal record - it's more of a breath of fresh air for something fulfilling yet entirely contemporary.

"Soul", "Criminal" & "All That I Got", all showcase an indefinite amount of flair that reminds you IDLEWAR are not your average band. They are more for the independent thinker in mind. "Innocent", "Glory" & "Apathy" overflows with more stimulation and fast-paced instrumentation, and embodies you with a motivating production - getting you more engrossed into this well-thought, beautiful array of songs. "Damage", "Burn All This" & "On Our Knees" conclude "Impulse" that distinguishes all negative thoughts with the progressive intentions the band might have...beautiful and ugly at the same time; with a yin and yang in abundance cover these 10 tracks of elegantly produced material by the Californian trio. If you're looking for an unprecedented discovery; look no further, and support the band in question for some exquisitely produced rocking clarity.<
