I'm always looking for a hard rocking band that is willing to record music that goes against current musical trends and play one of the dominant classic styles that I love so much. Power Metal outfit, ICHABOD KRANE, is one of those bands. Hailing from Detroit, Michigan, they are set to release their debut album, "Day of Reckoning", on July 25^th via Pure Steel Records.

"Day of Reckoning" is a 10-song release that is straightforward metal made famous by bands like HELLOWEEN, LIZZY BORDEN, SAVATAGE, IRON MAIDEN, and JUDAS PRIEST to name a few. ICHABOD KRANE, consisting of Jeff Schlinz on vocals (WULFHOOK), Rick Craig on guitars (HALLOWEEN), George Neal on bass (HALLOWEEN), and Tom Wassman on drums (SLEEPY HOLLOW), hope to reintroduce the old school style power that is almost extinct in metal today. With Schlinz's high-octave vocals reminiscent of Rob Halford, Lizzy Borden, and Jon Oliva, and Craig's powerful shreading front and center, this band has the potential to become a trendsetter in today's metal arena. I listen to a lot of music these days and it's rare when I hear something that completely stands out from the rest, and believe me, this one stands out. The only negative that I could find is that the production could have been a little better, but all in all, this album really smokes. ICHABOD KRANE have released a debut record that should be on the radar of all true Metalheads worldwide. I would highly recommend "Day of Reckoning" to all classic power metal enthusiasts looking for something new and totally different from most of the "cookie cutter" music being released these days.
