Ice Age - Liberation album cover

From the land of opportunities (yeah right), the USA, comes a really exciting and talented Progressive Metal band, Ice Age!
When I got this CD and took a look at the cover, I thought like oh shit! I wonder what kind of music a monkey might be playing. And how did it manage to get to me...after all I ain't into Monkey Music that much (hahaha). I was wrong folks. I had no idea that monkeys could play Progressive Metal (haha just kidding - I hope Ice Age won't kill me for this one hehe). I found myself listening to one of my favorite metal genres, Progressive Metal. You know, Prog Metal demands a lot of technique and general skills to be performed correctly. I guess that's why so many fans of untalented bands hate Progressive metal. It's very easy to just strike one or two chords on your guitar to make plenty of noise and then fall on your knees and headbang. What quality-defined music needs though isn't that close to just slapping your guitar a bit and yelling.

Liberation is not another junk CD! It's a 12 track album full of imagination (great lyrics) and talent. Josh's vocals remind me somehow of the 70's (I hope it's not just the recording's outcome) and that's the most fascinating part of it all! The combination of great guitars played by Jimmy Pappas (his origin's from Greece!!!), the astonishing vocals (and keys) of Josh Pincus, the great Bass and the pretty technical drums of Hal Aponte give an outstanding result! Take a trip...start your journey from the magnificent Lhasa Road, through the March of The Red Dragon, up to the magical Musical Cages and let your imagination expand with To Say Goodbye, Part III and Tong-Len (awesome keys!!!). These guys really have future potentials. I mean, if they can produce THAT great music right now, in ten years they'll be quite famous...trust me.

If you DON'T like Progressive Metal...STAY AWAY FROM THIS album...because it's for those who enjoy listening to music. Liberation IS MUSIC!
P.S. Ok ok....I'll make myself clear so that no one misunderstands my sayings : All metal genres rule, some more and some less (it depends on what you define as music). What bothers me (in all genres) is that some bands sell crap to our poor ears and think they've got a part in what's called music. Unfortunately for them, blood thirsty editors are ready to sink them right down to where they belong. We Want Music!!! It doesn't matter if it's Black Metal or Heavy or Thrash or Power etc. We just want music...so stop fooling around (boy what a long PS...hehehe).
