I WILL TEAR THIS WORLD APART is a Heavy Metal band based out of Norway, and formed in 2011. Following the release of their debut EP in 2013, the band releases this new EP which contains four tracks.

The title track, "Collapse," is a captivating blend of instrumental and vocal Doom and Death, with an intelligent ambient build-up, ushered in by soft acoustic guitar and a feeling of hopelessness. The anguished vocals which lead in as "we stand alone...we destroyed everything...now we are doomed..." render your soul turned inside out. "Human Decline" is fueled by double bass and blood-curling screams, and an absolutely crushing mid-section. The eerie guitar chords in the chorus ring out like a countdown to your final moments of your life on earth.

"King" digs down a little deeper with a slower pace and nice mixture of suspenseful guitar riffs and impending Doom. Towards the end of the track, the heavy instrumentation backs off and it fades away with a mysterious sound that hints of morbid intrigue. The final track is called "Refugee." After a tense and powerful emotional build-up, the main meat of the song is cold, deliberate and straightforward. The Doomy elements of the EP really come through strong here. The combination of the lamenting vocal screams, lyrical content and guitar parts in the chorus provide that thick, intense sadness that threatens to turn to madness.

Overall I find the EP is well done and would look forward to hearing more from the band. Sometimes more time together produces a little more vision and enables the group to hone their sound and approach more concisely. I have every confidence that this would be the case with future releases from this group. Although there are only four songs on the EP, you can really hear the vehemence of their songwriting approach.
